The core value of Hiking’s corporate culture is to make us become better people and have more meaningful experiences. We should keep the culture in mind and put it into practice, integrate our knowledge and action, transcend ourselves, always maintain integrity, gratitude, a positive and noble spirit and consciously be a model of dedication, amiability, integrity and civility of the new era.
Knowing means knowledge and morality; doing means practical actions and moral practice.
Culture influences cognition and cognition determines behaviors. The core value of the corporate culture established and advocated by Hiking Group is to make us become better people and have more meaningful experiences. We should keep the culture in mind and put it into practice, integrate our knowledge and action, transcend ourselves, always maintain integrity, gratitude, a positive and noble spirit and consciously be a model of dedication, amiability, integrity and civility of the new era.
●Be a dream chaser
We do a lot of repetitive things day after day and year after year. Most people “stack” the same things, while very few people “build” something different. The difference between the two kinds of people lies in their dreams. The dream is the driving force for people to move forward and a stepping stone from mediocrity. Dream chasers have clear goals and directions. They are not reconciled to the status quo and are always on the way forward.
There is a saying, “Something that stays in your mind will someday spring up in your life.” Kazuo Inamori, the Japanese “sage of management”, emphasized the role of sub-consciousness. He said, “What you don’t desire in your heart will not come close to you.” He emphasized that even a very ordinary person who has mobilized the power of his sub-consciousness can create miracles. If we have a burning desire like a fire, it will penetrate into our sub-consciousness, generating enormous power and opportunities.
In brief, what you expect is what you may get. Once we have a strong self-awareness, we will be no longer numb and confused. We will pursue the things we love enthusiastically and will achieve unexpected results throughout this process.
The dream is like a stair. In the beginning, the dream is often simple and plain, but it will grow gradually like a seed growing into a tree reaching the sky, or like a road stretching very long and slowly from the starting point. There is more than one dream in one’s life. Every time you go up to a new level, the scenery you see will be different and your thoughts and perspectives will be different.
Making the dream come true is a process of releasing the potential of life. A more wonderful life may start with a “small goal”.
●Be a persistent hard worker
There was a survey for people over 60 years old about “What is the most regretful thing in your life?” The result shows that 92% of those interviewed said that they regretted achieving nothing because they didn’t work hard enough when they were young. It’s not difficult to conclude that many people don’t regret not being materially rich, but not doing their best to do what they wanted to do.
We often believe that regret comes from unsatisfactory results. In fact, the biggest regret in life comes from giving up hastily when halfway through. The more painful regret is that “I could but I didn’t”, not that “I failed but I had tried my best for it”.
There is an old saying in China, “Do your best and follow your destiny.” Many people only take the last three words. When encountering a little setback, pain or trouble, they disarm and surrender early, saying “I can’t do it, I can’t achieve it, I have no way”. But in fact, the first three words are more important. In the face of problems and difficulties, we need to ask ourselves if we have tried our utmost till exhausting all possible ways. If we have put all our efforts, we will not regret anymore as the result is beyond our personal control.
Downhill walking is easy. But if we want to live a beautiful life and have a successful career, we should make persistent efforts: don’t complain, don’t give up. Drops of water wear a stone, not because of the strength, but the perseverance.
The better the dream is, the more it needs to be pursued tirelessly. In many cases, we persist not because we see the hope, but because we see the hope after we persist. Each of us has only one life and dreams can’t stand waiting, so let’s start today!
●Be a person keen on self-transcendence
To achieve our goals and dreams, we should have not only unbeatable faith, but also matching morality and ability. We need to constantly examine, introspect, revise, improve and transcend ourselves.
The essence of transcending oneself is breaking a convention, a limitation or an inherence. No one is born with knowledge, so life is all about learning and evolving. When we take the initiative to obtain stronger power, higher wisdom, deeper cognition and saner personality, we have completed a transcendence. In this process, we will gradually discover more possibilities in our own life.
To transcend ourselves, we need to constantly discover and face our own shortcomings. Everyone has his/her strength and weakness. No one is perfect. In life and work, we must always maintain humble, being good at discovering our own limitations and checking ourselves first for causes of problems. When we recognize the shortcomings from deep inside, we’ll have the strongest desire to correct them followed by swift actions and significant effect.
To transcend ourselves, we need to keep learning. Through continuous learning, we can keep breaking through our own cognitive limitations. In addition to learning specific knowledge, it is more important to improve our own learning and cognitive ability, so that we can quickly capture all kinds of information in various environments, comprehensively use all kinds of knowledge, take the initiative to think and introspect, judge and deal with problems with innovative attitude and ideas.
To transcend ourselves, we need self-discipline. For a true self-transcendence, we should sublimate our own soul through self-examination and a series of practices, and moreover, we should completely get rid of the hostile, closed, naive, pretentious and arrogant self-awareness.
Self-transcendence is a great transcendence of one’s own vision, morality and breadth of mind in terms of dignity, status, wealth and power. Such people know the timing to continue, stop or withdraw: if they choose to continue, they may win surprisingly; if they choose to stop or withdraw, they can have a reasonable basis. They can always make the correct choice.
Self-transcendence is both a process and a result. It is not only a moment of breaking a cocoon into a butterfly, but also a long road of quest. Chinese writer Hu Shi once said, “One inch of progress brings one inch of joy.” We should work hard and persist, one effort after another, one inch by another, from quantitative change to qualitative change, to find an opportunity for self-transcendence.
●Be a person pursuing self-cultivation
There is an old Chinese saying, “Cultivate one’s morality first, then administer the country and finally bring peace to the world.” Self-cultivation is the first step in the realm of life. It is the truth of life that we will gradually realize with the continuous increase of experience and wisdom. It is the realm of a person who is kind to himself, to life and others. It is also a basic skill that a person must grasp in his life.
Self-cultivation should first start from state of mind. A healthy state of mind is an ability to stay calm when dealing with emergencies. It is a virtue to be kind and generous and not expecting anything in return. It is a spiritual self-improvement for a person to achieve his career goal. It is a morality of a person in that he treats people sincerely, is reasonable and is not submissive to superiors nor arrogant to subordinates. It is a wisdom for a person in that he is not focusing on fame or fortune, but clear aspirations and peaceful and broad mind. It is also a person’s noble realm reached by a sublimated soul.
Self-cultivation requires restraining one’s emotions. We set high standards at work but keep a low profile. As written in the Doctrine of the Mean, “to reach the realm both extensive and subtle”, we should try not to be complacent but be humble.
Diligence and thrift are effective ways to sharpen one’s will and cultivate one’s sentiment. We always advocate saving every penny, every piece of paper, and every kilowatt-hour of electricity... These small things that usually seem inconspicuous could add up to great things. Diligence and thrift are an external behavior that reflects one’s inner attribute, and it is also an effective way to sharpen one’s will and cultivate one’s sentiment. Diligence helps us create wealth, while thrift makes us cherish wealth. With diligence and thrift, we can accumulate more of our wealth, the society will develop and advance. “Making a family prosperous is like picking soil with a needle, while ruining a family is like pushing sand with water”. Extravagance, waste, luxury and corruption will just erode the enterprise day after day and ruin it step by step.
Teamwork is also a concrete manifestation of self-cultivation. Hiking Group is a big family. Every member is indispensable and plays a role in their respective positions. Different positions correspond to different responsibilities. This is not only a distinction of duties, but also a clear definition of responsibilities and obligations. It is not related to a person’s superiority or inferiority. All our work should be centered on promoting the development of the enterprise and the interests of all shareholders and employees. No matter how we divide work responsibilities and to what extent, there are always conflicts and overlaps, and many tasks cannot be clearly distributed in order to keep the entirety and continuity. This requires us to strengthen communication and cooperation, approach from the enterprise’s perspective, be open minded, coordinate with each other to ensure a smooth and seamless cooperation.
Work distribution and coordination are two sides of one coin. They complement each other, not in the opposite. A clear work distribution is helpful to the efficiency of various tasks, but a work distribution without coordination will lose its vitality. A work distribution based on effective coordination is the real purpose of the distribution. In the big family of the Group, there will never be such issues as “if you are good, then I’m bad; if you are superior, then I’m inferior; or if you have more, then I will have less”. After the work distribution, we put more emphasis on coordination. Everyone should fulfill their own duty and coordinate with others when the duties are overlapped or unclear so as to achieve the optimal result. In addition, it is also a solid illustration of self-cultivation if we take a stand of the overall picture to pursue the utmost benefits for all, take an inclusive and positive mentality to practice the methodology of distribution and coordination.
Therefore, in reality, we firmly believe that all achievements are jointly made by all of us and we should respect everyone’s contribution. We advocate that we should not fight for our own benefits. Instead, we should fight for the mutual benefits. We should treat properly the relationship between personal achievements and team efforts. If Hiking Group is the sea, each of us is just a water drop of it. If a drop of water leaves the sea, it will dry up soon. A person’s energy and influence are limited and short living. The competitive advantages created by the team, the system and whole operating mechanism will, however, be endurable and sustainable.
In our daily work, we encourage and guide everyone to fully communicate and discuss so that everyone can fully express their opinions, draw on the wisdom of others and work together. When countering difficulties, everyone should work collectively to deal with the difficulties and celebrate every little achievement.
When we have enough moral cultivation, we will stand on a grand landscape and treat every employee, every client and every partner with conscience and love. When we obtain their recognition and respect, the great development of the enterprise will become inevitable and the business foundation of the enterprise will last forever.
●Be a grateful person
Grasses are grateful for the earth, so they are verdant; flowers are grateful for the rain, so they are gorgeous; a person is grateful for others, so he/she grows up. Gratitude is a kind of spirit, wisdom and virtue. Be grateful for parents, families, friends, and life... and be grateful for adversities and competitors. Gratitude is the source and root of all kindness, mercy, love and harmony. Eternal gratitude is not only a person’s virtue, but also a sublimation of the soul.
Gratitude means giving. Nature and society both circulate constantly. The more you give, the more you will get. Gratitude will make a person keep a kind heart and do good things, do their best to repay everything they have obtained and at the same time, they will get greater rewards from life.
Gratitude means being inclusive. Being inclusive is an advanced level of giving; it is also the key to spiritual growth. We should be inclusive of both ourselves and others.
Gratitude is the greatest source of kindness and should be the basic morality of every Hiking employee. If we are grateful for investors, investors will be activated and work for us; if we are grateful for products, the product will generate value and profits, creating and bringing wealth to us; if we are grateful for wealth, the wealth will revolve and bring us success, happiness and joy. The reason why Hiking Group can achieve today’s success is that we have a sincere gratitude to others, colleagues, friends, companies, clients, partners, competitors, the community and the country. This is also the “core” of Hiking’s success.
Thanks to all sectors of society and all leaders at all levels, it’s with their support and encouragement that Hiking has achieved today’s glory; thanks to all our clients who have brought many opportunities to Hiking; thanks to all our competitors and partners who have given Hiking the driving force for continuous innovation and development. We are more grateful for each of our employees who have created today’s Hiking!
British writer Thackeray said, “Life is a mirror: if you frown at it, it frowns back; if you smile, it returns the greeting.” In fact, the feeling of happiness is not determined by the situation and external conditions, but mainly depends on whether we have a grateful heart. Therefore, let’s keep smiling at life, work, world, familiar and unfamiliar people around us, our friends and our opponents, and let’s always be grateful and live a happy life!
